If you don’t like where you are in your life, you are not alone. So many people are unhappy with either their job, their relationship or their finances. I’m sure some of you are thinking it’s all three!
However, isn’t it strange that so many of us do not make changes or move away from the situation? Well, actually it’s not as we are governed by pleasure & pain. We accept the situation we are in as change is perceived as far more painful. Therefore we stay where are.
Here are 5 steps that will help you move & make changes in your life.
1 - Get Moving
To change our state & have more energy we need to move, I don’t mean to go for a run or go to the gym, but to move more often. So many of us are sat down for too long, either at work or at home in front of the TV. Change needs momentum & you will not get that if you don’t move your body. As Tony Robbins says, ‘emotion is created by motion’.
2 - Wake your conscious mind & limit choices
Waking our conscious minds to accept our reality & embrace change is one step toward finding out what we need to do next in our life. We become paralysed rather than liberated by the power of choice. When we are presented with too many options, our brain doesn’t know what to do with it all. When our minds focuses on fewer choices, it becomes easier to see the direction we want to go in.
3 - Take small steps
If change feels too overwhelming & far too big a task, chunk it. If you break any big decision into easy to manage pieces you will take action. You need to work towards what you want in life every day. Achieving daily tasks gives you the confidence to keep going. It also helps you avoid doing nothing while you’re feeling stuck.
4. Seek the wisdom of others
Benjamin Disraeli said, ‘The more extensive a man’s knowledge of what has been done, the greater will be his power of knowing what to do.’ Learning from people who have already got to where you want to go, the faster you will get to change. Reading other people’s stories about how they lived their lives & how they overcame their challenges in life can be a good source of motivation.
5. Learn About Yourself
Find out who you are, what your passions are, & what you want to do with your life. If you’re feeling stuck, it may simply be because you’ve lost touch with your most authentic self. If you’ve become detached from your own goals & dreams, it will be incredibly difficult to get back on track. To move forward, you have to let go of your past & embrace change. If you’re not sure where to start, make a list of your priorities, then you can identify where you need to put your energy to obtain the life you desire.
Change can be a tough journey, but it is also rewarding, as you will discover your life purpose & passion.

Our lives are shaped by endless decisions that we make every day. Every action we take is a decision to not take another. Every decision we have ever made has shaped our life up until now. You have even made a decision to read this, which could take you in a slightly different direction.
Every day, we make decisions. Even the seemingly insignificant decisions we make can change the way we live the rest of our lives. However, we often ignore the countless ‘insignificant’ decisions we make daily that are slowly nudging us to a different direction, either away or closer to your dreams.
When we decide to watch TV, we are deciding to take time away from whatever else we dream of doing. Maybe it’s to start a business, lose weight, or learn something new. Whatever it is, you are taking time away from that goal when watching TV.
We make our decisions by the mental compasses we have in our mind. It points towards a certain direction. If your mental compass is pointing towards being fit or towards running your own business or not, it will shape you and point you in a certain direction.
Some people live their life pointing towards other people’s compass. They either conform to what society ask of them or they are chasing someone else’s dream that they don’t really want.
A couple of decisions in the wrong direction aren’t an issue. However, repeated decisions in the wrong direction will move you away from your dreams. Remember you can’t put on 2 stone overnight. If you choose to eat too much today, you won’t be overweight tomorrow. If you eat too much the following day you won’t be overweight the day after. However, if you choose to eat too much day after day after day, you will become overweight.
The decisions you make everyday are contributing to your result someday in the future. What will it be? Is it going to result in you gaining 2 stone? Is it going to help you launch a successful business? Who knows?
We really can’t control how our decisions affect the outcome. What we can control is to stack the odds in our favour. It’s all about playing the long game.
I love this caption. It has made me reflect on how much I have changed and gone through as an adult.
Big changes can come through failure, pain or fear. These difficult times shape us and allow us to learn and grow.
Making big changes in your life can be scary as we naturally go towards what we know. However, going for it and opening our wings can be life changing.
So don't be scared of failure, change or new challenges in life. See them as you growing into the person you want and deserve to be.
