Stop for a moment and think how someone would react if you said to them what you tell yourself on a daily basis?
Sadly so many women’s self talk is negative and erodes their self-esteem. We spend so much time telling ourselves that we’re not good enough, smart enough, talented enough, or thin enough.
Our self-talk affects us in a very powerful way. If we think something is possible, we’re more likely to make the effort to achieve it. If we think it’s impossible, we won’t even bother trying.
Also our negative self talk has a physical impact on our bodies, effecting our blood pressure, muscle tension, temperature, breathing rate and heart rate, which makes us feel so much more anxious and stressed.
In contrast, when we experience positive thoughts, we flood our brains with endorphins, which helps us relax so we are more alert and centred. As a result, we’re far more likely to be confident, optimistic, and motivated to do what it takes to achieve our goals.
Pay attention to your self talk today and only say things to yourself that you would say to someone you love!
